The people involved in trail riding horses have one common passion holding them together.  Their love of horses and all things that have to do with them. Sterotypes abound , on every ride I participate in I meet new people or find out something new about someone I have known for a while. We can remember a lot about the horses we ride with also. I always associate the horse with the rider before I really get to know them. There is also a certain amount of privacy involved with trail riding that allows people to be friends and still maintain any level of anonimity. You can reveal as much or as little as you want to. Trail Riding groups have sprung up all around the area. I am presently an active member in three different groups. All of the groups have a different focus but have the horses as a common thread.

Income has no bearing on riding and owning a horse. You will find people in all income levels at almost any event you attend. I have been fascinated by the diverse backgrounds found at a large gathering. Millionaires ride next to low income , no one cares, if they made it there they are in. They all seem to have fun and forget their problems for the weekend. They are there to enjoy the horse ride.

Yatesville

Trail Riding Horses in Eastern Kentucky is a very fulfilling and hands on way to experience nature in the Eastern Kentucky Hills. The rides are beautiful and different with each changing season. The lifestyle that many people have chosen does not allow them to enjoy the beauty around them. They drive from point to point talking on a cell phone and thinking about the next big event in their lives.

Stop , look and listen to beauty all around us. Eastern Kentucky is blessed with beautiful terrain and a multitude of wildlife.

Trail Riding in Eastern Kentucky is a fulfilling hobby. Many riders visit different state parks and share their own farms or areas with local riders. The men and women involved have a great time and build long lasting relationships. Unlike many groups with member in the 40's and 50's  Facebook , Texting and any form of immediate communications is embraced and used to plan last minute rides in many locations. If you miss an evening on the computer you may miss the ride the next morning. Weather is the deciding factor in any ourdoor activity.

Several local Parks have trail systems. Yatesville, Grayson , Carter Caves, Greenbo are all within a 45 minute drive of my home.

Maintaining the trails falls to the people that use them. Economic constraints and budget cuts has taken any state support back to a minimum. Trail riders build trails , repair trails and pick up any trash. Very seldom is trash found on horse trails most riders feel if they carried it in full they can carry it out empty.
